Review: Android Based Remote Password Security System

Bluetooth is the buzz word, while designing any automation system for study purpose. Automation of Home/Work place is common using short range communication technology, called Bluetooth. This is because it is hard to keep good security system at home/work-place to prevent it from any mishap or security breach. The Bluetooth enabled Android Mobile Phone can be used as password entry device and control the secure entry process by standing at safe and comfortable place.

Objective: The system to construct which allows user or maintenance staff to control secure entry process standing at safe and comfortable place. Note that this system allows user to change his password as-and-when to minimize password decode breach.

This Smart Remote Password Security System has two parts: User end where user uses Android App on his Android Mobile to enter password for secured entry process via Bluetooth means; and Control end which acts as secured center and is connected with main controller unit [which also decodes Bluetooth-received password and open/close secured door for entry/shut purpose]. The controller module is based on popular 8051 microcontroller chip. The chips memory resident program/code monitors Bluetooth module over its UART port or serial port for any user password. If any data found at serial communication (UART protocol) pin, it is decoded as password or door-open/close command and accordingly executed on output port connected driver module. The output port connected driver module executes door open/close command. User can change his security password as-and-when to avoid password decode breach. In terms, password is stored in electrically erasable memory and can be changed many times easily by user at his will.

 

In simple terms: user connects door control unit with his Mobile phone and enters password to open/close door for secured entry from his comfortable place/position. The user has provided privilege to change his password as-and when easily to prevent password decode breach.

 

The intended device needs Android App in user Android mobile hand set prior using this system. The range of the system is defined by used Bluetooth's communication range.

 

Since only single door is controlled, less care needed while designing and controlling system.

 

Applications:

  • The system is used as remote controller for door unit at home/work-place.
  • Since single point control is possible, useful for non-technical automation purpose as well.
  • Since system is embedded type and wireless, portability is done very easily. Changing load/door-unit to control is also very easy.
