Review: Arduino Based Digital Frequency Counter

Every Laboratory needs oscilloscope to measure input signals frequency, and it is not possible to have one as oscilloscopes are very costly instruments. So, simple digital frequency counter constructed using embedded module is sufficient for any prototype designing work.

ArduinoDigitalFreqCounter_2016

Objective: Constructing a simple and economic Digital Frequency Counter, which measure inputted signals frequency and displays it on suitable display module. Note that Signal Generator module is also constructed to feed input signals for counting process.

Methodology is very simple; output of the Signal Generator module is given to Controller Module input pins. The Controller Module converts input signals into frequency counts with the help of memory resident program and send it to Display Module for viewing purpose.

Applications:

¾    Used to measures inputted signals frequency on suitable display module.

¾    With suitable modifications in hardware and software system can be used as laboratory standard testing instrument.
