Review: Arduino Based Relay Control System

The embedded systems are usually low power modules and do not drive varying or high voltage loads directly. They prefer a driver module such as relay with driver transistor to drive varying or high power rating loads.

ArduinoRelayControlSys_2016

Objective: Constructing an Arduino based embedded system which uses electromechanical relay to control load. Note that the system works only up to switching relay to on or off and other side of it, i.e., load type is not considered very deeply. So care should be taken while dealing with mains powered loads at relay end.

The system is comprised of arduino based Controller Module, Driver Module and an electromechanical switch or relay. The memory resident program of Controller Module reads switch connected to its input pin and activates relay through Driver module. Thus relay energizes and circuit completes at load end.

Applications:

¾    The module is used in automatic load control section or automation section of any system as it isolates low power Controller Module from high power rating loads.
