Gesture controlled systems are made either with touch-less gesture recognition module or using costlier image processing technique [which needs high resolution camera and robust algorithm]. Such systems allows user to control gadget or robot by standing at safe and comfortable place.
Objective: The objective of the project is to build smart system which controls robot or robotic arm using gestures touch-less. Note that Communication Modules used in the system are bi directional in nature, robot detected parameters can be received at user end. But it needs some hardware and software modifications at both ends.
This System has two parts: User end and Robot end. At the User end Gesture Recognition Module is used to capture the user gesture and transmit it to Robot end using wireless Communication Module. The Robot end is made of three modules: Communication Module, Controller Module and Robot. The Communication Module receives the gesture commands sent by User end unit wireless and feds it to Controller Module for further processing. The Controller Module with the help of memory resident program converts gesture commands into robotic commands and sends it to output port connected robot or robotic arm. As user waves his hand in front of Gesture Recognition Module, the commands are sent to robot end wireless and it starts executing it.
Currently system recognizes these commands: Turn Left, Turn Right, Forward, Backward, Clockwise and Anti-clockwise turn.
Since Gesture Recognition Module and Communication Module are used, more care needed while designing and controlling system.
Applications & Features:
The system is used as wireless remote controlled system at home/work-place.
Since single point control is possible, useful for non-technical people.
Since system is embedded type and wireless, portability is done very easily. Changing controlled commands is very easy.
