Review: Obstacle Avoidance Robot

Almost all navigation robot demands the some sort of obstacle detection, hence obstacle avoidance strategy is of most importance. Obstacle avoidance robot has a vast field of application. They can be used as services robots, for the purpose of household work and so many other indoor applications. Equally they have great importance in scientific exploration and emergency rescue, there may be places that are dangerous for humans or even impossible for humans to reach directly, then we should use robots to help us.

Objective: The construction of system/vehicle which moves in uncharted area with the help of mounted obstacle avoidance module. Note that vehicle can be modified to detect many parameters while moving and send back it to remote end user.

The Obstacle Avoidance Robot has three modules: Ultrasonic Sensor Module, Controller Module and Driver Module. All three modules are fitted on robot or vehicle and supplied by on-board battery. The Ultrasonic Sensor Module beams ultrasonic rays and ensures no obstacles in-front of the vehicle and moves in forward direction. If any obstacle are found on path, so is detected by Controller Module with the help of memory resident program and turns the vehicle by sending proper control command to Driver Module. The Driver Module drives the motor and thus moves the robotic vehicle as desired by Controller Module memory resident program.

Since only three modules are there to operate, less care needed while designing and controlling system [except battery].

Applications & Features:
The system is used as stand-alone System at home/work-place.
Since system is embedded type and stand-alone changing different use-sites is done very easily.
