As automation is observed everywhere, irrigation system is not prone to it. It takes person presence near canal to release water for irrigation. The New Irrigation System Using GSM is one such design meant for removing human presence near canal to release water and thus task is automated for greater ease.
Objective: The objective is to create a system which allows user to open or close canal gate from remote end, that to using SMS of GSM mobile phone.
The working of system goes like this: the system uses GSM mobile’s SMS service to take canal gate open/close commands from remote user. User has to send Gate Open or Close command via SMS form to system. When system receives such command SMS, reads it and takes appropriate action. That means open/closes canal gate by activating respective relay connected to gate motor. The buzzer is provided for local alarm sound.
The controller module with the help of its memory resident program does all these monitoring and taking actions. Even though in block diagram Control SMS is shown in-to remote user module it is actually to the system.
