As automation is observed everywhere, power sector is not prone to it. Now every home and shop pays monthly electricity bill through manual process. And for overload protection separate circuit breaker are used. The Prepaid Energy Meter with Wireless Update is one such design meant for removing manual process of paying electricity bill to counter and thus task is automated for greater ease.
Objective: The objective is to create a system which allows user to recharge his electricity meter as per his convince, that to using SMS of GSM mobile phone.
The working of system goes like this: the system works in two modes. In mode one, user has to recharge his energy meter for his desired number of units and activates the plan by sending recharge SMS to his energy meter. No need to go to counter to pay electricity bill. In second mode, system checks for overload and if overload is observed switches off supply to prevent any further damage.
The controller module with the help of its memory resident program does all these monitoring and taking actions. Even though in block diagram Recharge SMS is shown in-to remote user module it is actually to the system.
