Kit Review: CAN Based Security System

When more and more systems are designed using microcontroller chips so as the need of best serial communication between them is necessary. One such serial communication among others is CAN [others: RS232, LIN, SPI].

Objective: The construction of system which uses CAN communication protocol and shows how a 3 microcontroller chips makes one robust security system using this protocol.

The three microcontroller chips are used to design this system, each communicate with other with the help of CAN communication protocol. The first microcontroller chip is fitted with keypad and takes password as its input. The second microcontroller chip is interfaced with buzzer for alarm sound and gate opening module or Door Driver Module. The third microcontroller chip is interfaced with Display Module to show current status of the system to field user.

The working is simple: user enters password through keypad, if it is correct without alarm gate will be opened with proper display on Display Module. If entered password is wrong alarm sound is generated with proper display on Display Module.

The Block Diagram shows only one microcontroller module as for simplicity sake.
