Review: BCI or Mind Controlled Wheel Chair

Bluetooth is the buzz word, while designing any automation system for study purpose. Automation of Home/Work place/Personal Gadget is common using short range communication technology, called Bluetooth. The Physically challenged people find mind controlled automation very helpful as they make them to carry over daily routine very efficiently.
Pantech_MindControlWheelChair
Objective: The construction of system which allows user to control wheel chair using his mind thoughts or mind centric commands.

This System has two parts: Head-set end and Wheel Chair end. The Head-set end consists of Head-set, Brian wave receiver and Communication Module. The functioning of it is straight forward, Head-set fits on head of user, receives mind commands and transmit it to Wheel Chair end for further processing purpose. The Communication Module at Wheel Chair end receives such mind commands and fed it to Signal Processing Program loaded on Laptop or Computer. The Commands are further amplified and fed to Controller Module for driving Wheel Chair. With the help of memory resident program Controller Module drives Wheel Chair according to the received mind commands.

This system allows user to control three commands of the wheel chair: Move Forward, Move Backward and Stop. Note that initially brain needs more practice to produce useful mind commands.

Since feeble brain waves are tracked to get mind commands, more care needed while designing and controlling system.

Applications & Features:

The system is used as wireless mind controlled System at home/work-place.
Since single point control is possible, useful for non-technical people.
Since system is embedded type and wireless, portability is done very easily. Changing mind commands is very easy.
The system can be also used for AUTOMATION purpose, viz., Home Automation, Small Factory etc.
