The add-ons are needed when designing any system and one such is Touch Screen System.
Objective: To construct a stand-alone or used as add-on system known as Touch Screen System. User can use such system for browsing menu, options or to control some gadget with simple finger touch. Note that system is used as GUI [Graphical User Interface] and CUI [Character User Interface] can also be implemented with slight code and hardware change.
The system has two modules: Touch Screen Module and Controller Module. The Touch Screen Module is connected to ADC or Analogue to Digital Converter pins of Controller Module. The memory resident program runs or drives the touch screen and works in interactive mode. The user does not need mouse or keyboard to access touch screen.
Note that system needs Atmega board as ADC and more buffer memory on Controller Chip is needed.
Since ADC pin controlled Touch Screen Module is used, more care needed while designing and controlling system.
Applications & Features:
Touch screens are common in devices such as game consoles, all-in-one computers, tablet computers, and phones.
The touch screen has two main attributes. First, it enables one to interact directly with what is displayed, rather than indirectly with a pointer controlled by a mouse or touchpad. Secondly, it lets one do so without requiring any intermediate device that would need to be held in the hand (other than a stylus, which is optional for most modern touch screens). Such displays can be attached to computers, or to networks as terminals. They also play a prominent role in the design of digital appliances such as the personal digital assistant (PDA), satellite navigation devices, mobile phones, and video games. A touch screen is a computer display screen that is also an input device.
The system is used as stand-alone or add-on System at home/work-place.
Since single point control is possible, useful for non-technical people.
Since system is embedded type and touch-only operated, portability is done very easily.
Changing display contents on touch screen is very easy.
