Review: Web Server Based Automation System

A web server in the device provides access to the user interface functions for the device through a device web page. A web server can be embedded into any appliance and connected to the Internet so the appliance can be monitored and controlled from remote places through the browser in a desktop.
Pantech_WebServerAutoSysObjective: The aim of the project is to control the devices or equipment’s from the remote place through a web page. Note that setting current status of the controlling device can also be implemented with slight code and hardware change at both ends.
The system has following modules: Interface Module, Controller Module, and Web Server Module at Automation End. A PC or Computer at Control End is needed. The sensors and actuators are connected to Controller Module through Interface Module. Thus gathered device information is displayed on web page of webserver using memory resident program of Controller Module. The remote user can accesses this information via web page using internet connected or LAN connected Computer.

Note that internet connection or LAN connection is necessary to see the status of remotely connected devices.

Since only small two modules are controlled, less care needed while designing and controlling system.

Applications & Features:

The system is used as wired/wireless remote monitor System at home/work-place.
Since single point control is possible, useful for non-technical people.
Since system is embedded type and wireless, portability is done very easily. Changing monitor devices is very easy.
